Western Cape Owner of the Week: Greg Bortz

The ROA Owner of the week (Western Cape), Greg Bortz had a good day at Kenilworth on Saturday 26 February walking off with victory in a Listed race as well as the big fish, the Jonsson Workwear Cape Derby (Grade 1). The 3 rd race, the Kenilworth Cup (Listed) over 3200 metres, was won by Salvator Mundi (owned in partnership with Pamela Isdell) with Craig Zackey in the saddle. This four year old gelding was bred at Varsfontein Stud – Dynasty – Secret Obsession by Captain Al. Later in the day there was great excitement when Pomp and Power with Richard Fourie on board won the main feature on the day, the R1million Derby for three years olds over 2000 metres. Pomp and Power has had 9 runs and achieved 5 wins and 1 place. He was bred at Main Chance Farms – Veringetorix – Peru (SNL) by Candy Stripes (USA). Both winners are from the Justin Snaith stable.
