Eastern Cape Owner of the Week : Suzette Viljoen
Suzette was enjoying winning ways once again this week to earn the Eastern Cape Owner of the Week Award. She scooped two winners at Fairview on 3 December, the first being in the 5 th Race when Essoss won a MR68 Handicap over 1400 metres with Marco van Rensburg in the saddle. Essoss was bred at Wilgerbosdrift and Mauritzfontein Stud – Flying the Flag (IRE) – Sagrada (IRE) by Danehill Dancer (IRE). Later in the day, Muzi Yeni rode Jacobs Ladder to the winning post in a MR68 Handicap over 2000 metres. This four year old gelding was bred at Maine Chance Farms – Duke of Marmalade (IRE) – Jolie Angelina by Silvano (GER). Both winners are from the Z Oosthuizen stable. Suzette then moved on to Kenilworth on 4 December and enjoyed victory with Surjay in a Maiden Plate over 1200 metres, compliments of Robert Khathi and Trainer MJ Robinson. Big smiles all round as this was an RA bonus race. This three year old was bred by Est. Late Dr RJ Antrobus – Vercingetorix – Something of Value by Badger Land (USA). She also won the next race, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1500 metres with Captains Ransom. Richard Fourie was in the saddle and the successful trainer Justin Snaith. Captains Ransom was bred at Moutonshoek – Captain Al – Cinnas Ransom (GB) by Red Ransom (USA).
