Racing in the Eastern Cape has never seen such a season by a stable!
The stable of Alan Greeff had an absolute brilliant 2018/2019 season – saddling a record 176 winners.
“It was a great season. I did not expected such a season in my wildest dreams and this will be a hard act to follow,” Greeff said.
Greg Cheyne rode most of the Greeff winners at Fairview and also broke the season record for jockeys.
He became the first jockey to ride 100 winners in an East Cape season and ended on 116 winners.
Cheyne is also very happy with the season. “We set the benchmark and it will be hard to follow up on this next season.”
Although the Greeff stable had a record season, some of the other Port Elizabeth stables delivered some fine performances and will be rewarded for that at the Racing Association Awards for the season, taking place on 4 September.
The Horse Of The Year will be announced then.
