The stable of top Cape Town trainer Justin Snaith is not that prominent in Port Elizabeth these days but is still a huge factor in the Listed races in the Friendly City. With racing at Fairview becoming more and more competitive the raiders must work very hard for their victories, as the Snaith filly Juniper Spring did.

Jockey Richard Fourie had to pull out all the stops to win the Listed R150 000 East Cape Breeders Stakes over 1200m on Friday (28th June).

The meeting was switched from the grass to the poly after some heavy rain during the week at Fairview but that didn’t stop the Snaith raider to complete the victory.

Juniper Spring was bred at Cheveley Stud and owned by Vaughn Koster and Peter Wright.

This win will be Juniper Spring’s only appearance in the Eastern Cape season and she will most probably not be considered for the province’s champion three year old filly of the year award.

Carlita ran second behind Juniper Spring to keep her in contention for this award with the likes of Just Chaos, Mary O’Reilly, Madame Speaker and March Music.
