RA Member David Shawe was awarded the Owner of the Week Award after winning with Sir Geoffrey at Vaal Racecourse on 23 May and Humour Me at Turffontein on 26 May. Four year old gelding Sir Geoffrey started out favourite in a Maiden Plate over 1400 metres under the ride of C Maujean. The successful breeder is Drakenstein Stud (Mrs GA Rupert) Trippi (Aus) – Sing Dixie Sing by Western Winter. Later in the week, his three year old gelding (Humour Me) won a Maiden Plate over 2000 metres at Turffontein. Humour Me was ridden by Apprentice N Klink and was bred by Dr IR Heyns – Ideal World (USA) – Tickle my Fancy by Fort Wood (USA). Both winners are trained by Geoff Woodruff.
