The Fairview track manager Charles Newcombe has accepted the challenge.

Newcombe received plenty of compliments for the Fairview tracks – Poly and Turf – at the recent WSB East Cape Derby Festival in Port Elizabeth. The two tracks are in great shape and must rate amongst the very best in the country.

Jockey Bernard Fayd’Herbe has ridden on many international tracks and is very impressed with Fairview. “It is an absolute pleasure to ride on the Fairview track. It is in great condition,” he said.

Visiting Cape Town trainer Brett Crawford has won the EC Derby the last two years and is another that is full of praise for the work of Newcombe and his team. Newcombe was happy to receive the positive feedback but said it will be a challenge to keep the tracks in this superb condition. The Eastern Cape is caught up in a drought and Newcombe appreciate it when there If a bit of rain coming the way of the Friendly City.

“The rain makes a huge difference, it makes my task much easier to keep the tracks in shape,” he said.
