Talented four-year-old Run Red, a convicing winner of the Listed Selangor Jet Master Stakes last month, faces just five rivals (including two stable mates) when he lines up in the 0861 150 160 MR 90 Handicap at Durbanville this Saturday.

World Sports Betting have installed the Twice Over gelding as the 12-10 favourite, even though he will be conceding from 2 to 7.5kgs to his rivals. Despite this, the progressive Andre Nel trained runner could well prove too classy for his rivals and should run a big race.

The consistent Grand Silvano does not know how to run a bad race, and has a solid record at Durbanville. The well bred son of Silvano steps up in trip, having finished fourth over 1600m last time out and he should be thereabouts in the finish.

In contrast to Grand Silvano, the Candice Bass-Robinson trained Ballad Of The Sea may find Saturday’s race on the sharp side, having finished third in the Kenilworth Cup over 3200m last time out –albeit off a very false pace.
Adam Marcus has one of the better strike rate with his winners to runners in the country, and he sends out 6yo Gyre here, the latter does have to improve off his effort behind Run Red last time out –where Gyre was beaten over seven lengths.

Run Red’s stable mate Silver De Lange makes his first start since November 2018 and should need the run, while fellow Nel runner Sailing Lizard takes a drop in class having contested the G1 Gbets Cape Derby last time out and would have a shout here if repeating the run when fourth in the G3 BMW Politician Stakes two starts back.
