Even champion trainers have to beg for winners sometimes.

Alan Greeff jokingly went on his hands and knees in the Fairview parade ring, begging jockey Teaque Gould to deliver the goods in the last race on the polytrack at Monday’s (22 Oct) meeting.

Gould did just that, bringing the filly Fairyinthemist home in the last race of the day.

That was the 35th win for the Greeff stable for the season.

The top Port Elizabeth trainers had a wonderful run in the first three months of the season, building up to PE’s big meetings over the last weekend in October.

Greeff and Gavin Smith are amongst the top five on the national trainer’s log.

Two other trainers, Tara Laing and Yvette Bremner, is also doing very well and at times this season PE had four trainers ranked amongst the top ten  on the national log.

Before the big October weekend Greeff is leading in PE with 35 winners, followed by Smith (24), Bremner (18) and Laing (16).
