Paul Lafferty, trainer of Gauteng Guineas winner Harry’s Son, has little doubt his charge will see out the 1800m of the R2-million SA Classic at Turffontein on Saturday.

“I read stories all the time questioning whether he will stay. He will easily go 1800m without worrying about it. The only reason they got close to him in the Guineas is because (jockey Piere) Strydom geared him down well before the post.”

Lafferty added he was delighted with his charge’s work at home. “He’s doing very well. The plan to bring him up is exactly the same as it has been over the last few races on the Highveld. We will leave at midnight on Friday.”
