The Racing Association (RA) bonus races in Port Elizabeth seem to get the best out of the top trainers at Fairview.

Champion trainer Alan Greeff makes no secret about the fact that he “is chasing” those races that carries a RA bonus.

Greeff was on target at Fairview when the 4 year-old gelding Suave won a Maiden Plate on Friday (8 December) for the owners Oscar and Veronica Foulkes.

There was a win bonus of R20 000 in this race and Greeff said it is worth being a RA member.

“It takes a small fee to become a RA member and winning a race like this pays for membership for many years to come,” the trainer said.

Trainer Gavin Smith said he checked beforehand if Spencer Cook, owner of the filly Bullion Babe, is a RA member.

Bullion Babe won also won a Maiden Plate with a bonus of R20 000 up for crabs on Friday.

In the other bonus race Michael Moore was another RA member that was smiling when the filly Curved Light, trained by Duncan McKenzie, also won a Maiden Plate.
