The Brett Crawford trainer Whisky Baron, winner of the inaugural G1 Sun Met, tops the entries for the G1 Jebel Hatta –one of five graded features for thoroughbreds carded to be run at Meydan on “Super Saturday” this week.

Whisky Baron will be making just second Dubai outing and third racetrack appearance in all since leaving South Africa.

The gelded son of Manhattan Rain should strip a much fitter horse than he did when a creditable fourth in the recent Zabeel Mile and he is officially the top rated runner among the Jebel Hatta entries with a rating of 118.

His potential rivals in Saturday’s G1 feature include G2 Gauteng Guineas winner Janoobi, who beat Whisky Baron by three lengths when the pair met last time out in the G2 Zabeel Mile and recent Dubai pattern race winners Benbatl, Folkswood and Promising Run.

Other Super Saturday entrants with ties to South Africa include former G1 SA Derby winner and G1 Vodacom Durban July runner up Al Sahem, who holds an entry in Saturday’s G2 Dubai City Of Gold

Former G2 Peninsula Handicap hero, and Met fourth, Light The Lights is another to hold a Dubai City Of Gold entry –with the Dubai City Of Gold set to be run over 2410 on Meydan’s turf track.
