Ridden by Aldo Domeyer, the five-year-old powered home from last to win by half a length –and set a new track record in a time of 82.85

The son of Right Approach was scoring his fourth career win and clearly relishes the country course.

From six Durbanville outings, New Caledonia has registered two wins and has been unplaced just once at the track thus far.

Owned by James Drew, Mike Fullard, Mike Makaab, Clive Kalil and Gordon Igusend, New Caledonia is out of the Tiger Ridge mare Coral  Garden.

New Caledonia was bred by Wilgerbosdrift.
