A full field of sixteen 3yo fillies will line up in Saturday week’s G1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas.
Snowdance, the four and a quarter length winner of the G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship, has been installed as favourite for the R1 000 000 contest, and the well bred Captain Al filly has the added bonus of a good draw of two.
Her sternest rival could well be last season’s Equus Champion 2yo Filly Lady In Black, who had a very wide trip when beaten more than eight lengths by Snowdance last time out and the daughter of Dynasty could well relish the step up to 1600m in the Guineas.

Lady In Black is one of four visiting runners set to go in the Cape Fillies Guineas this year. Others include recent G3 Starling Stakes winner Via Seattle, poorly drawn in 11, G1 Thekwini Stakes second Rockin Russian and Silver Thursday.

Also poorly drawn in 12, Silver Thursday was beaten 1.75 lengths by Via Seattle when third in the Starling Stakes on Charity Mile day.

The 2017 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas is one of three graded races set to take place at Kenilworth on Ladies Day next Saturday, with the others being the G2 WSB Green Point Stakes and the G2 WSB Cape Merchants.

Reigning Horse Of The Year Legal Eagle will bid to defend his Green Point title when he lines up against six rivals, while the Merchants final field also includes last year’s winner –Search Party.
