IT does not happen that often that the local Port Elizabeth owners win the Listed races at Fairview.
This was the case on Friday (26 July) when the Bold Silvano colt Foreign Source won the R200 000 Listed Champion Juvenile Cup for 2y olds over 1400m. Bold Silvano won this race in 2009.
Owners Anthony Williams and Andrea Puggia are regulars at the Fairview meetings and did not miss the chance to lead their charge into the winners’ enclosure.
Williams and Puggia are passionate owners and thoroughly enjoyed this victory at the Eastern Cape Nomads Race Day.
Foreign Source is bred by Ascot Stud in Port Elizabeth, trained by champion Alan Greeff and had champion jockey Greg Cheyne in the saddle.
Foreign Source has now won three races and placed the other four times (two of those in Listed races) for total stakes of nearly R300 000.
He must have a very good chance to be crowned as the East Cape Champion 2y old colt/gelding of the year.
