Adam Azzie is a pleasure to interview and with his father and training partner Michael chirping that he’s quite happy that the press “doesn’t aggravate him anymore”, Turf Talk took the opportunity to ask Adam about the stable’s recent hot form.

Adam commented: “Our horses have turned the corner going into autumn, but it’s not really a major form turnaround and we’re doing the same things, working hard, looking at each individual to see what we can improve. I’d say it’s more a question of having found the right races for some of our runners recently.

“It’s ever easy to pick races from what’s available for certain runners, but sometimes things do fall into place and when you’re lucky they fall into place on the same day and you can send out doubles and trebles on one card.”

Adam touched on Tuesday’s Vaal winner Flying Fable, who shouldered top weight without fuss in a MR 84 Handicap on the straight 1600m at the Vaal. “Flying Fable won in the manner we expected her to win. She’s a filly with plenty of talent but she’s had issues and, as you’ve seen, she is lightly raced as a result.
