The race meeting scheduled for the Vaal on Tuesday, 12 March, has been moved to the Turffontein Inside track.

This follows 50mm of rain falling at the Vaal on Monday, resulting in a penetrometer reading of 29. More rain was forecast for the Vaal area on Monday night, so it was decided it would be safer to stage racing at the Johannesburg city track, which had a pen reading of 21 on Monday afternoon.

Race 6 will now be over 2600m and Race 8 over 1450m. Race times remain the same.

Previewing the race meeting, Mike Moon writes: When in doubt, go with The Guv. That might be a mantra worth following on Tuesday, when a tricky card suggests punters could do worse than rely on the mastery of former champion trainer Geoff Woodruff.
